Job Title:
Assistant Maths Hub Lead (Post 16)
Working Pattern:
0.5 days per week (flexible time)
Start date: July 2021  
End date: Contact to be renewed annually subject to DFE funding (Initially July 2022)
Salary: Minimum of 18 days per year (currently £7500)
For Teachers: Paid to the host school for teachers’ time
Independent applicants: Paid directly to employee


Help schools and colleges lead improvement in Post-16 and Level 3 mathematics education in Central and West London boroughs (Hounslow, Hillingdon, Ealing, Brent, Harrow, Hammersmith and Fulham, Kensington and Chelsea)

Job Description:

Working with the Maths Hub lead team to plan how to address the Post-16 Institution Strategic Goal
Participating in Maths Hub Leadership team meetings
Regularly updating MHL on work progress
Liaising with AMSP, Centres for Excellence and other relevant programmes
Identifying leading schools and colleges for Post-16 mathematics provision
Reporting to the Strategic Board, as required
Supporting the Post-16 Work Group Leads
Having knowledge of other Work Groups and the work of other LLMEs (London Leaders of Mathematics Education)
Monitoring progress in Post-16 Work Groups including planning Work Group activity where needed
Support all Work Group Leads through the evaluation process
Working with school leaders to ensure sustained participation in the Maths Hub’s offer
Identifying schools suitable for participation and working with leadership Team to recruit Work Group schools
Working with AMSP to support recruitment of schools and colleges to the joint offer
Finance and data management
Working with Maths Hubs to correctly apportion AMSP partial funding of Level 3 Work Groups
Participating in Level 3 Lead forums and online community
Collaborating with other Level 3 Leads across the network, particularly in neighbouring hubs
Participating in regional coordination meetings with AMSP

Person Specification:    


Good knowledge of landscape, curriculum, and priorities of Level 3 Mathematics (including Core Maths)

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Good leadership and people management skills

Experience of teaching Level 3


Based in a school/college with excellent Level 3 Maths practice

Successful track record of working effectively with other professionals across a range of Level 3 Maths providers

Track record of Level 3 Maths leadership in department

Experience of teaching diverse Level 3 Maths qualifications (e.g. Further Maths, Core Maths)

Experience of delivering mathematics CPD
